Microsoft have announced significant changes to the way updates to Dynamics 365 are deployed, in a bid to ensure its users have access to the latest features, while minimising any potential risks.

Back in October, 2017, we discussed Microsoft’s plans to release a new NAV-based offering, codenamed ‘Tenerife’. Microsoft have now officially announced that this new product, now called Dynamics 365 Business Central, will be launched on April 2nd, 2018.

Further outlining their commitment to the Dynamics 365 platform, Microsoft have begun rolling out a new Help and Support Centre, making it easier to report issues and receive faster issue resolution. 

Although Microsoft Dynamics 9.0 has been available since October 2017, this had initially only been available for new sign-ups to Dynamics. However, as of January 15th, it is now possible to schedule upgrades to this new version from existing version 8 instances.

For previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and 365, developers were able to download an SDK containing information on writing server-side code, client-side scripts, custom business logic, integration modules, workflow assemblies, and plug-ins. However, with the latest version of Dynamics 365, the SDK is no more and these resources have now moved online.

Following Microsoft’s announcement in October 2016 that no new contracts would be signed for their Microsoft Dynamics Marketing service, they have further announced that the service will be retired entirely on May 15th, 2018, leaving businesses that use the service with a big decision to make.
